Fashionistas of Light aiming to attain a high score in Week 261 of the Gold Saucer’s Fashion Report in FFXIV must procure Soot Black Dye for their Legs Piece and Gloves. While there is nothing extraordinary about this Dye’s color aesthetic, the procedure required to obtain it is more challenging than typical Dyes sold in Eorzea and lands beyond. More specifically, adventurers will not be able to get Soot Black Dye from the regular Dye merchants found in Uldah, Gridania, and Limsa Lominsa. Instead, this cosmetic color-changer is obtained through trading, questing, clearing a Dungeon, or an NPC Vendor from a particular Beast Tribe in Eorzea.

The primary method by which most players will acquire Soot Black Dye in FFXIV will be through the Market Board, where the item sells for an average of 250 Gil, varying by the server. Warriors of Light are highly recommended to get their Soot Black Dye from this source if possible, as it is the most accessible approach.

Another method of obtaining Soot Black Dye in Final Fantasy XIV is by participating in the Heavensward Dungeon, The Fractal Continuum. While not guaranteed, the Pot has a chance of dropping from one of the Treasure Coffers that players encounter during the instance. Completing the quests “The Company You Keep (Immortal Flames)” and “A Porcine Plight” also reward players with the Dye upon completion.
