To maximize the Bonus Points earned for Dyes in Fashion Report Week 261 of FFXIV, Fashionistas of Light will need to shade their footwear with Shale Brown Dye. Similar to Soot Black Dye, this Dye can only be acquired by increasing one’s Reputation and doing business with a Beast Tribe in Eorzea. However, as a tradable item, Shale Brown Dye can also be sold and bought with Gil on the player-shared Market Board. Varying by servers, this Dye has been exchanged between price averages of 1,000 to 2,500 Gil. This investment is quite low compared to other popular Dyes, but it can be troublesome if the item is sold out on one’s server.

Obtaining Shale Brown Dye in FFXIV

Therefore, if players are unable to get Shale Brown Dye from the Market Board in FFXIV, they will need to procure the resource from the Sylphic Vendor in East Shroud. This NPC Merchant can be found at the coordinates (X:22.3, Y:26.3), which marks a sub-zone area known as the Little Solace.

How to Get Resplendent Feathers in Final Fantasy XIV

Like other Beast Tribes in FFXIV, the Sylphic Vendor will not sell Shale Brown Dye to Warriors of Light straightaway. Instead, players must first complete “Voyce of Concern,” a Sylph Main Quest given by researcher Olmxio. This quest becomes accessible after adventurers have cleared the side quest “Seeking Solace” and the A Realm Reborn MSQ “In Pursuit of the Past.” Once these prerequisites have been fulfilled, players will gain access to the Sylph Daily Quests that can be completed regularly to receive rewards, including Reputation progression with Sylph Beast Tribe.

According to the Console Games Wiki for FFXIV, reaching a Recognized Reputation with the Sylphic Vendor will grant players access to new wares in its shop, including Shale Brown Dye, which can be purchased for 216 Gil. While completion of the Sylph Daily Quests is not difficult, it does require dedication to visit and help the Sylphs every day to earn their trust. It should be noted that the Abalathian Sidequest, “Ok’ Zundu’s Got Talent,” the Kholusian Sidequest, “Children of the Derelicts,” and the Elpis Sidequest, “Methods of Mourning,” also reward participants with Shale Brown Dye. However, doing business with the Sylphic Vendor or finding a seller of the Dye on the Market Board are much more convenient options.

Final Fantasy XIV is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
