The key to understanding Rachel Amber comes with the information learned in Life is Strange: Before the Storm. Episodes 2 and 3 provide in-depth detail as to why she feels so disillusioned with life when she comes to learn that her real mother is still out there. Can Rachel actually meet her mother?

Rachel can, in fact, meet her real mother, Sera, during the outro of the game. The actions that lead to this being possible are quite specific, which is why a lot of players are not aware that it is possible to get the mother and daughter to meet. There are two ways to get them both to see each other, and we will cover both methods.

With the Bracelet

One way to get Sera to still meet Rachel is by using the bracelet, which you can get from Rachel in Episode 2: Brave New World. After performing in The Tempest, Chloe and Rachel will talk about running away together.

As a sign of good faith, Rachel will ask what she can do to prove her commitment to Chloe. One of the options is to hand over the bracelet that Rachel has had since she was born.

A lot of players miss this, as they are enticed by the idea of a kiss instead (which we don’t blame anyone for). The key to making the ending easier, however, is by taking the bracelet so that it can be given to Sera in the final episode.

Chloe and Sera will meet at The Old Mill, where she is being kept by Damon Merrick. After an altercation, the two will sit down to talk, and Chloe will attempt to convince Sera that she should still meet Rachel after all her efforts to do so.

Sera will leave The Old Mill either way, but there are three dialogue choices you can pick from before she leaves, which are:

  • Don’t leaveI’ll take care of herGive her Rachel’s bracelet

By choosing to give her the bracelet, it will remind her that she gave it to Rachel as a baby.

After this, you will still need to be honest with Rachel in the hospital so that she finds out everything that has happened regarding her father—James Amber the DA.

By doing this, Rachel will feel further away from her father emotionally. She will still be thinking of Sera, and with Sera having the bracelet, it causes the two to finally meet.

Without the Bracelet

It is actually possible to achieve the same ending but without the bracelet (so you can have your cake and kiss it too).

The difference here is that the chosen dialogue options in The Old Mill have to be very specific, otherwise Sera will not turn up at the end of the game. Once again, after Damon and Frank have finished fighting, Chloe and Sera will talk.

You will want to choose these conversation options in response to what Sera says in the following order:

  • You know my nameKnow about what?I don’t understandShe deserves to meet youEverybody’s brokenI lost my fatherRachel needs youI thought my Dad was perfectDon’t leave

These conversation options will show Sera that her mistakes don’t have to dictate her future and that Rachel won’t love her any less for what she has done. She will still leave The Old Mill but will turn up again later.

In this scenario, you still need to tell Rachel everything at the hospital so that it gives Sera the opportunity to see Rachel, as Rachel’s relationship with her father will be ruined due to his actions.

By choosing these options, in the outro sequence, you will see Rachel and Sera meet at the lighthouse.

By going through the conversational choices as stated above, you will get to experience the heart-warming moment where Rachel finally gets to know her birth mother, and honestly, it feels really good.
