You are going to be shooting a lot of stuff in Cyberpunk 2077. It is pretty much your most common action in the game, and there is a multitude of weapons to choose from. Thankfully, when it comes to ammo, things are a bit more simple. Weapons are broken out into types, from handguns, to assault rifles, shotguns, and more.
Each type of weapon also has an ammo type, and as long as you have ammo of that type, you can fire the relevant weapon. it’s a simple system and is a far cry from the super-deep ammo types that some people out there expected. Where ammo gets interesting is just how much of it you will go through in the game. You will need to stock up when you can, so here are some of the places to get it.
Weapon Shops
Unsurprisingly, weapon shops are great spots to fill up on ammo. It is pretty cheap compared to how much money you can actually earn. If you are running low, open your map and look for gun symbols to find a weapon shop.
Ammo crates
Different areas of the game will have ammo crates strewn around, containing one type of ammo. Loot them whenever you see them, as free ammo is free ammo.
Bodies
When you kill someone in combat, they can drop weapons and ammo. Grab any ammo that they drop, as it’s a pretty good way to reduce the cost of having killed them in the first place.
Crafting
If you invest in the correct perks, you will be able to craft your own ammo. This sounds like a great idea, but the crafting side of the game seems to be pretty unrewarding right now, and those perks can be better spent elsewhere. As we dig deeper into it, we will come back and revise this section if we need to.
You will want to grab as much ammo as you can when you can. While enemies are not bullet sponges, you won’t be able to just walk over them either, so staying topped up with life-ending bullets of all kinds is important.
