The Indominus Rex is a dinosaur that was created exclusively in the Jurassic World franchise and is one of many creatures that Jurassic World Evolution players can own in their parks.
This dinosaur can be unlocked in the main campaign and is part of the late-game content. In theory, you can get it earlier, but it might be best to wait until you’ve progressed and researched enough things before trying to make one.
The Indominus Rex is the rarest and hardest dinosaur to get in your park since it requires a lot of investment not just in-game, but from yourself as well. You’ll need to get through most of the main campaign and unlock nearly all of the islands before you even have the tools needed to make this legendary beast.
The dinosaur can’t be received from fossils at an expedition dig site like others or in a mission. Instead, it requires you to research how to make one after reaching certain checkpoints in the campaign.
These checkpoints include:
- Having $2,000,000 to spend on the research alone.
- Getting Tyrannosaurus Rex and Velociraptor Genomes up to 100 percent.
- Have four research centers either across multiple islands or on the same one.
After you’ve reached these checkpoints, go to the Research page under “Genetic Research” and the Indominus Rex will be available to research. You can then incubate it like any other dinosaur—just be prepared to deal with its hectic and aggressive nature by providing it with its own secure, well-fed pen.
If you don’t keep the Indominus Rex happy and comfortable, it’ll only be a matter of time until it breaks out and destroys your entire park—so be sure to cater to it as much as possible.
