Can’t find these out in the wild? Chances are you need to trade them. Here’s how to get all trade evolutions in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Getting some evolutions through exchanges with other players is a saga classic. In Paldea, there are several Pokémon that require doing so. The trading section could not be missing in our complete Pokémon Scarlet and Violet guide. Making trades with other players is a great way to complete the Pokédex. Still, it is also necessary to get certain species, such as Scizor or the charismatic – and fearsome – Gengar.
This guide covers how to get all trade evolutions in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
How to get all trade evolutions in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
First, connect your console to the internet and go to a Union Point, available in any Pokémon Center (the PC installed on one of its sides, next to the MT Machine). Using an invitation code, you can make random changes with unknown users or do it safely with a trusted friend. Here are all the evolutions per exchange.
- Slowking: first of all, trade evolutions in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
To get it, you need to exchange a Slowpoke (do not evolve to Slowbro) with another player equipped with the King’s Rock item. You can find this item in the Delibird Shop (Plateau City). Although it is not available from the first moment, you must advance in the story to appear in its catalog.

- Scizor: second of all trade evolutions in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Scyther’s evolution is a Bug and Steel type. To get it, you need to equip a Scyther with the Metal Coating item and then exchange it with another person. You can find it after advancing in the story in the Delibird Shop (Plateau City).
- Gengar: third of all trade evolutions in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
One of the most popular and fearsome Pokémon in existence. You will have to exchange a Haunter with another player if you want one. It’s not necessary to have any item equipped. Just ask it to give it back to you later. Don’t let it steal it! Another option is to go to Leudal City and exchange it to an NPC for a Pincurchin, which you can capture very close to the city’s outskirts (south side). Actually, he offers you a Haunter, but giving it to you counts as an exchange, so it evolves in the process.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is available on the Nintendo Switch.
