New World has seen a massive amount of players, even achieving a concurrent 700,000 players on its second day after launch. The downside of so many players always-online means long server queues, depending on which server you join.
To battle this, the developers have announced they will allow players to transfer servers. They state “To ensure everyone can find an open world now, while also finding a home in Aeternum with their community long-term, we’ll offer an opportunity in the next two weeks for all players to relocate their characters to a new server of their choice at no cost.”
This announcement as well as new servers being added means that it should be easier to get into a game. As of now servers are practically full and have queues in the 100s and even 1,000s. As of now, there is no word on exactly how this server transfer will work.
The addition of the words “at no cost” could imply that players can transfer services again but not for free. Regardless, having the ability to transfer servers without having to restart is big for MMOs like this. It allows you to make sure that you and your friends are all able to get on a server together.
