Ever since the switch to 3D, Sonic games have tried to expand the platforming gameplay with semi-open-world mechanics. Now, with Sonic Frontiers, Sega and Sonic Team have made an “overly ambitious” and fully open-world experience that the Blue Blur fans can enjoy. Aside from acquiring collectibles in the wide open world, Sonic will also have to save his friends from the clutch of Cyber Space. Freeing Tails is not a particularly complex task in Sonic Frontiers, and we will tell you how you can save the yellow, two-tailed fox with this guide.
Sonic Frontiers – How to Save and Free Tails
You should not be able to miss the mission to save and free Tails “Miles” Prower in Sonic Frontiers since it is also a part of the main story. Sonic will meet with his best buddy once again after defeating the Wyvern on Ares Island, the second boss you encounter in the game. After the fight, Super Sonic will fly to Chaos Island, where he will lose the Chaos Emeralds once more.
Unfortunately, Tails will still be locked in a red spiked cage. You will have to spend 20 Tails’ Memory Tokens (the yellow-colored Wrench items) to free him from the cage. After that, you can talk to him and complete some related Quests. Although each time you want to talk to Tails, you will need to exchange some Tails’ Memory Tokens.
You should be able to obtain at least 12 Memory Tokens around Chaos Island from various objects that you can through before reaching Tails’ location. The rest of them, around eight or so Memory Tokens, can be found in a Blue Chest close to Tails.
Sonic Frontiers is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
