If you run into an error when playing Sea of Thieves, it’s usually the KiwiBeard error. It’s the most common error state in the game. Unfortunately, KiwiBeard error pops up for a few different reasons, so it takes a bit of troubleshooting to figure out how to solve the error state.
What is the KiwiBeard error in Sea of Thieves
Almost always, the KiwiBeard error appears when the servers are down and the game is struggling to connect. This can happen when too many players are trying to connect to the same server at once or if the server is down for maintenance while the developers add new updates.
The KiwiBeard error can also occur if you play with more than one gamertag in the same system. You can only have one gamertag for each system to play Sea of Thieves.
Sea of Thieves: Fix the KiwiBeard error
The way that you solve the KiwiBeard error depends on what’s causing the error state. If you potentially have more than one gamertag logged in at the same time, log out of the account you’re actively using and track down the other account you have. Once you get into that account, log out of it and sign back in with the account you want to play with.
If you know that you only have one gamertag or if you’re sure that multiple gamertags aren’t causing the error state, check out the social media accounts for Sea of Thieves to see if the game is undergoing planned maintenance. When the servers are down for planned maintenance, there isn’t a way around the error state until the servers are once again made live. This usually takes a couple of hours, so take a break and maybe try your hand at another nautical adventure in the meantime.
