If you’re an avid Minecraft player, you’ve probably seen the term “world seed” thrown around. A seed is a unique string of numbers that’s used to generate a world in Minecraft. If you have a world’s seed, you can generate the same world again. This is great if you feel like you’ve “messed up” your world and want to start again.
To find your world seed you can simply type /seed in the command console. To bring up the command console press the / button. You’ll then see your world’s seed number. You should be able to copy this number in the chat log if you want to share your seed with anyone. If not, simply write or type it out.
You can also use the Re-create option in Worlds to see your world’s seed if it’s a single player world. This way you can re-use the map multiple times.
In the Bedrock Edition of the game, the world seed is easily found on the world options screen, but not in Java edition.
Having your world seed is great for sharing an incredible world you might have found, or more complex builds. Third-party applications online will allow you to see things like slime blocks, undiscoverable locations, and other detailed bits of information about your world.
