S-Chips are some of the most important resources in Tears of Themis, as they can be converted into another currency with the same name (Tears of Themis), which can then be used to draw Visions. These essentially make up the game’s gacha system, allowing you to collect cards of the four love interests. S-Chips can also be used to refill AP and increase the daily Anomaly clear limit.
However, S-Chips are difficult to obtain, especially if you’ve already completed most of the game modes. Here are all the ways to farm them.
Daily Check-In and Tasks
A recurring source of S-Chips are the Daily Check-Ins from the game and HoYoLAB, which reward you with S-Chips on certain days. Keep in mind that these rewards are based on your cumulative log-ins and not specific days of the month.
Daily and Weekly Tasks will also grant you S-Chip rewards for Daily and Weekly Activeness milestones. You need to manually claim these rewards, so don’t forget to do so before the daily and weekly reset!
Main Story and Anomaly
Each X-Note Story stage will grant you 40 S-Chips on the first clear. Completing an entire Episode will merit you a one-time reward of 100 S-Chips. You need to manually claim this at the bottom-right of the Episode page.
Completing an Episode unlocks its corresponding Anomaly stages. Each stage will grant you 40 S-Chips on the first clear, while completing every stage in an Anomaly Episode will also grant you a 100 S-Chip reward. This also needs to be manually claimed on the bottom-right of the Anomaly Episode page.
Legal Studies
Each debate in the Legal Studies section of the X-Note will grant you a 40 S-Chip first-clear reward.
Trials of Themis
The Trials of Themis can be accessed from the Event section of the X-Note. Here, you can complete a series of exploration-style stages that involve one debate and the choice to loot rewards or answer a question in the Trials of Athena.
Each stage will grant you anywhere from 25 to 150 S-Chips. The “boss” debate on the 25th stage of each Area will merit you double rewards. You can only clear each stage once.
Temple of Trials
After completing Areas 1-10, 1-25, and 2-25 in the Trials of Themis, you will unlock the Temple of Trials in Easy, Normal, and Hard modes, respectively. The Temple of Trials features 30 waves of debating and looting, granting you the following number of S-Chips upon completion:
- Easy: 75 S-ChipsNormal: 95 S-ChipsHard: 135 S-Chips
There’s a weekly maximum S-Chip cap that you can obtain through these means. You won’t get any S-Chips you obtain in excess of the maximum cap. The Temple of Trials can be done on auto, so make sure to run it in the background a few times a week:
- Cleared 1-10: 240 S-Chip capCleared 1-25: 300 S-Chip capCleared 2-25: 350 S-Chip capCleared 3-25: 400 S-Chip cap
Card Stories
SR and SSR cards are attached with stories that unlock as you level them up. Reading these stories for the first time will grant you S-Chips and Affection for the featured male lead.
- SR: 10 S-Chips and 500 Affection for Acts 1 to 5, 20 S-Chips and 1,000 Affection for Act 6 SSR: 15 S-Chips and 750 Affection for Acts 1 to 5, 25 S-Chips and 1,250 Affection for Act 6
Private Messages
SR cards that are connected to the Main Story come with two Private Messages instead of stories. These are voiced content of the featured male leads talking to you. Listening to them for the first time will grant you S-Chips and Affection.
- First Private Message: 20 S-Chips and 1,000 AffectionSecond Private Message: 25 S-Chips and 1,250 Affection
Fieldwork
You can obtain 50 S-Chips for getting Reputation level 11 for each of the Fieldwork locations. You’ll also get 30 S-Chips for achieving two concurrent Lawsuits in two districts.
ACHV
Head to the Tasks menu and click on ACHV on the upper right to find tasks specific to the male leads and the Main Story. Card-related tasks will grant you S-Chip rewards.
Events
Tears of Themis almost always has an event ongoing, and these are great ways to resupply your S-Chips. Make sure to participate in them, as they only run for a limited time! But be careful, as some events—like the Special Consultations—encourage you to spend S-Chips and won’t reward you with a reimbursement.
